In a move aimed at backing Palestine against US decision to recognize Jerusalem as a capital of Israel, Egyptian intellectuals announced in the Egyptian writers’ conference their rejection to The US president’s bias towards Israel which had usurped the Palestinian territories long decades ago.
President of Egyptian writers’ conference Farida Al-Nakash said that intellectuals and writers will remain supportive of the Palestinian cause which recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Al-Nakash, one of the most famous writers in Egypt, said that US president Trump decision on Jerusalem will reinvigorate the Palestinian Case in order to be at the forefront of the Arab scene once again.
“We refuse all the forms of normalization of relations with the Occupation authority. Palestine is the Arab’s cause and we will win it in the end,” Al-Nakash said.
“Arab’s stance relating to Palestine has regressed in the last years. So we need to put it in our priority again especially Jerusalem which has already emerged within the conference’s recommendations,” she added.
“Jerusalem … a flower among cities will be etched in our minds,” Al-Nakash added.
Some 128 countries voted down Trump’s decision on Jerusalem calling for Washington to drop its recent recognition of the old historic city as Israel’s capital.
Previously, 14 countries have voted in favour of the Egyptian draft resolution on Jerusalem in the Security Council, but the US vetoed it.
