(MENA) – Egypt, in cooperation with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), will launch a satellite, with 70-80 percent Egyptian components, next July, said Higher Education Minister Khalid Abdel Ghaffar.
His remarks came in the word he gave before the parliament just before its approval of a draft law on the establishment of an Egyptian space agency.
Earlier, the head of the National Authority for Remote Sensing & Space Sciences (NARSS) said the first purely Egyptian-made pilot satellite will be launched in 2022 within the framework of experimental satellites’ program meant to serve scientific research.
Under the program due to wrap up work in 2022, four or five satellites will be launched, Medhat Mokhtar said earlier in statements to MENA.
