Sisi stresses Azhar’s role in renewing religious discourse

(MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed the crucial role of Al Azhar in renewing the religious discourse and spreading tolerance values and accepting others, pointing out to the importance of continuing the comprehensive development process of Al Azhar.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady on Tuesday.

Rady said that the meeting dealt with Al Azhar’s efforts in spreading the gracious teachings of Islam and confronting local and foreign threats, mainly terrorism and extremist thoughts.

Tayyeb reviewed Azhar’s activities , affirming Azhar’s keenness on consolidation of the values of citizenship, pluralism and cultural diversity.
